New Music festival
The president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kufour, on Thursday, February 12, called on young musicians throughout the country to exhibit a high degree of professionalism as they strive to achieve laurels in their chosen career.
Launching the 2015 edition of New Music Ghana Festival at the Goethe-Institut in Accra, he commended the organisers of the festival for grooming young musicians who are creating waves with their artistic creations.
MUSIGA, he said, would continue to offer its expertise and support for the festival which has helped rekindle interest in the learning and playing of instruments by young musicians.
“MUSIGA is delighted to be part of this initiative that will help propel a new generation of Ghanaian musicians onto the world music scene,” the MUSIGA president added.
African Footprint International, a Cape Coast - based group delighted the audience with a brilliant fusion of musical styles.
Also on stage with a blend of rhythms from the Volta and Northern regions was North Wings, winners of the 2014 edition of the New Music Ghana Festival competition, which was held in the Northern regional capital, Tamale.
Goethe-Institut Accra supported the launch, which was organised by the Institute for Music and Development, MUSIGA and Arterial Network Ghana.
