Ebi Bright and Baba Sadiq lose parliamentarybids after collation was completed
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidates Ebi Bright and Baba Sadiq have lost their bids after the Electoral Commission announced the results of the outstanding polling stations in the Tema Central and Okaikwei Central constituencies.
Following a High Court order on January 4, 2025, the commission completed the collation of the results, declaring Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) the winner of the Tema Central election with 18,870 votes, narrowly beating Ebi Bright's 18,815 votes.
Similarly, Patrick Yaw Boamah of the NPP emerged as the Member of Parliament-elect for the Okaikwei Central constituency.
He secured 21,099 votes to win the seat, while his opponent, Abdulai Abu Baba Sadiq, popularly known as Baba Sadiq had 19,368 votes.
The latest announcement by Electoral Commission means that Ebi Bright and Baba Sadiq's parliamentary ambitions have been dealt a significant blow. (Related article: Ebi Bright and Baba Sadiq out )

In a significant development, the High Court in Accra ruled in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ordering the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete the collation of results in four disputed constituencies.
The court's decision has led to the declaration of NPP candidates as winners in the Tema Central and Okaikwei Central constituencies.
Justice Forson Agyapong, who presided over the case, stated that the EC had failed to collate results from 31 outstanding polling stations in the Okaikwei Central constituency, breaching its obligations.
The court ordered the EC to collate the results from the remaining polling stations and incorporate them into the already collated figures.
The EC subsequently completed the collation, declaring Patrick Yaw Boamah of the NPP as the winner in the Okaikwei Central constituency and Charles Forson as the winner in the Tema Central constituency.
The NPP also secured favorable rulings in the Ablekuma North and Techiman South constituencies.
With the court's decision, the NPP has gained a significant advantage in the disputed constituencies, just two days before the swearing-in of newly elected MPs.
Meanwhile, The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that it will not accept the collation and declaration of results for the four outstanding constituencies, labeling the process as "illegal and unlawful."
