New Gurl, a cover version of Sarkodie’s New Guy is definitely not a style that eSHUN, who has participated in many music reality shows such as Mentor, Glo X Factor and MTN Project Fame is noted for.

For her fans, eSHUN’s forte as an artiste is Afro Pop and Highlife but she goes Hip Hop with New Gurl.

On the song, the 22-year-old presenter of Radio Central raps about the challenges she faces as an upcoming artiste in New Gurl.
She sings that even after she is pushed into the limelight as a result of participating in reality shows, she had to wait for two years for a “redeemer” to help her achieve her dream of doing music professionally.

She also raps about how it took her many years to conquer her fears and is now proud to be reaping the “fruits of her labour”. She says the road is clear for her to explore her talent and take the music world by storm.

New Gurl has a good instrumentation and eSHUN’s amazing voice couldn’t be missed by the listener.

Speaking with Showbiz in an interview last week Friday, eSHUN, real name, Ethel Eshun, bemoaned the many challenges upcoming artistes face to make headway in their career.

She cited lack of structures in the music industry to handle affairs. That, she noted, has been a major hindrance to the growth of new artistes like herself.

“The system doesn’t encourage young talents at all. It kills new talents so if you are really not committed to your work, you will give up,” she stated.

She hinted at a collaboration with Okyeame Kwame titled Black which she is hopeful will boost her brand as an artiste.
