Madonna admits dating Tupac

It was always heavily speculated, though it has taken two decades for the queen of pop, Madonna, to confirm that she briefly dated iconic rapper Tupac Shakur before he died in the mid-nineties.

Madge, now 56, finally opened up about her fling with the late rapper, who tragically died in 1996, on Howard Stern's SiriusXM radio show. The Living For Love hit maker was speaking about her state of mind when she appeared on David Letterman back in the 1990s when she revealed that she had dated the California Love rapper.

Stern asked Madonna, who recently revealed that she only likes younger men, if she liked Letterman because all of her interviews with the chat show host in the 90s seemed cold.

But despite appearing hostile, the singer claimed she usually flirted with the host except for one appearance in 1994 when she was angry over a relationship that was completely unrelated.

"I was mad at [David Letterman] when I said the F-word a lot," she explained. "I was in a weird mood that day. I was dating Tupac Shakur at the time and the thing is he got me all riled up about life in general," she dished. "So when I went on the show, I was feeling very gangsta."

Madonna was always rumoured to have dated the rapper but, until now, she has never spoken publicly of their romance. Just before his death, Tupac described the Like a Virgin star as "real nice" and someone who "helped me a lot". A book by Lucy O'Brien, Like An Icon (2007), claims that Madge not only dated Shakur but also wanted to have a child with him.

The singer has never addressed the claim, but has since gone on to mother four children, all of whom range from ages nine to 18. In light of Madonna's confirmation, The View co-host, Rosie Perez, has claimed that it was her who set the couple up. She explained that Shakur took her to the 1993 Soul Train Music Awards after her original date stood her up.
