The much publicised event which saw thousands of people in attendance was nearly marred when it started to rain just before the start of the show at about 7.30pm.  Some of the fans  yet to gain access to the concert venue left for home.

The heavy downpour, however, didn’t deter the many other patrons who  took refuge in their cars.

Others  had no choice than to stand in the rain till they were given access to the stadium after security checks.

When the rain eventually abated, patrons still had to wait for more than an hour for the show organisers to reorganise the stage and solve some technical challenges.

It was a night that any event organiser would have felt  a bad show loomed due to  the initial challenges but that was not to be. The concert passed off  well and some fans may even remember it for a while to come for the smooth way it flowed after take-off  at 10: 00pm.

Michelle and Ella Duncan were the first performers and they set the right mood for an expectant night of worship.

The gospel musicians were not the only attraction on the night. There were rib cracking jokes from Nigerian comedians  Julius Agwu, Funny Bones and Seyi Law.

Gospel acts like Eugene Zutah, Joe Mettle, Supt. Kofi Sarpong and Francis Amoh also performed creditably.

The world-acclaimed American gospel act, Ron Kenoly performed some of his songs like Ancient of Days, I love To Love You Lord, Give to the Lord, Use Me and Keeper Of My Heart.

When he hit the stage at exactly 1: 00am, the man who had endeared himself to many and for whom the patrons had to defy the heavy downpour, lived up to expectation.

Sonnie Badu came clad in an all-white outfit.  Moved by the attention and love shown  for him by the audience, he remarked: “I’m touched by the love and support you have displayed. You have no idea how the enemy worked against this show. You have made me proud.”

He led the patrons into an overdrive of those unique moments of worship and singing style he’s come to be known for. He performed for more than two hours and the audience sang along with him.

Some of the  popular songs he performed were Baba, Let It Rain, Lost In His Glory and Covenant Keeping God.

The man was on fire throughout his session. He was truly in his element  and the audience had a real feel of contemporary worship as well as having their money’s worth on the night.
