The auditorium of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Head Office in Accra where the launch took place was electrified as various borborbor groups treated everyone to beautiful dance steps and music.

VOMAFEST comes off in grand style on Sunday, December 8 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra.

The festival, themed Exposing Volta Music Unto The World For Business, is aimed at raising funds to  acquire a permanent plot of land for an office building and performance theatre for MUSIGA in the Volta Region and other developmental projects.

At a press briefing to launch the festival last Thursday at the MUSIGA Head Office in Accra, Mr David Mawutor, the chairman of the Volta Regional branch of MUSIGA said the festival would start at 2.00pm through to 11.00pm and will feature musicians and dancers of Voltarian origin.

Some of the musicians scheduled to  perform are Edem, Elivava, Kano-Z, Della Hayes and her all-female band, Celestine Donkor, Doris Adenyo, Irene Tsevi and Raps Ziggy.

Others are the Big Shot Band, New Generation Borborbor Group, New Vision Borborbor Group and the  Jehovah The Greater Ministry Agbadza Group.

Mr Mawutor said  though the festival is being hosted by the Volta Regional branch of MUSIGA, everyone could attend.

VOMAFEST is being organised and presented by the Volta Region branch of MUSIGA under the patronage of His Royal Highness Togbe Afede XIV, Paramount Chief of Asogli Traditional Area.

“The festival concerns the unity of the Volta Region  and all persons. It is also about  paying tribute  to the  founding fathers of the region and its people,” Mr Mawutor said.

He added that the event was free of charge and that donations were welcome.
