The Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) rose from their Extraordinary Session on Guinea with demands for presidential and legislative elections in six months.
The meeting in Accra, Ghana, on Thursday, 16 September, 2021 concluded that the Republic of Guinea remains suspended from the fold of governing boards of the regional bloc until constitutional order is restored, while all members of the military inspired National Committee for Reconciliation and Development (CNRD) and their families are under travel bans and their financial assets frozen.
No member of the CNRD is also allowed to contest in the presidential election.
