The project, which has been completed, is currently undergoing tests. It will start supplying water to consumers in the Wa Municipality by the end of April.

This was made known by Mr Francis Agyei-Boateng, the UWR Chief Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited; when he conducted the students round the water project, which is sourced from the Black Volta River.

The group was briefed on the treatment processes at the in-take facility, mixing chambers, filtration and disinfection before transmission into the 35-kilometre pipeline for distribution to Wa.

The $55.5 million loan project was started in February 2013 to replace the existing water supply system which had been in operation since 1952. It was undertaken by Kolon Pyungh
