G.N.S foundation to screen school children for Sickle Cell on Sept. 13
The 9am event will see 150 school children screened for sickle cell and 200 fed not excluding music and food. The purpose of the exercise is to offer school-going children the opportunity to know the condition of their cell type, for those with serious conditions to seek early medical treatment with the support from the Foundation and to promote awareness of this disease (Sickle Cell Disease).
Speaking in an interview Mrs Sandra Amponsah Ayivor, Executive Director of G.N.S foundation she said “We are calling on all individuals and organizations to support this worthy cause. The Foundation will benefit by having the opportunity to make a positive impact in the society”
G.N.S Foundation has embarked on other projects like World Sickle Cell Day 2022- screening of 120 young girls at the Shelter for Abuse Children’s Facility/Home and awareness creation, World Sickle Cell Day 2021- planting of over 150 trees at the Accra Zoo, World Sickle Cell Day 2020- Donation to Sickle cell clinic, Blood donation exercise, planting of trees for our fallen heroes, Time with street kids- Education and donation of relief and food items, Donation to Osu Children’s home, Donation of computers to Sickle cell clinic, Covered Girls Camp- Training workshop and mentorship Donation of laboratory consumables to Sickle cell clinic, Donation and education of Kayaye girls, Paying of medical bills of Sickle cell patients among others
About G.N.S Foundation
G.N.S Foundation was established in 2016 and it simply stands for Gibeleen and Sandra. G.N.S is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) specializing in Sickle cell management and associated haematological diseases. This is the core mandate. Its secondary goals include Orphanages and Disability assistance, Youth and Women (‘Kayaye’, Antenatal) support/empowerment. Mrs Sandra Amponsah Ayivor is the Head of Accreditation Maintenance (Quality Management System Department) at the Food and Drugs. She is also the Director, Ghana Women Forum (a multisectoral national development initiative to provide opportunities for the feminine group in society). She is the brand ambassador for Airport Women’s Hospital.
