Ghana Corporate Brands Awards honours five state institutions, 44 corporate entities

This year’s event themed, ‘Digital horizons: celebrating Ghana’s corporate brands charting a path to technology excellence’, highlighted the relevance of excellence in branding.

Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, Akwesi Awuah Ababio, speaking at the event, said recognising the contributions of these brands formed part of government's agenda of creating sustainable jobs through the use of technology.

According to him, initiatives such as the ‘One District One Factory” promotes Ghana’s commitment to job creation.

“Innovations such as the e-business registration system, paperless port clearance system, digital address system, biometric registration system, and national identification system, among others are changing the way we do things,” he stated.

Mr. Ababio said these digital systems collectively reduce cost of conducting business within the country, while enhancing overall efficiency and eliminating intermediaries and other bottlenecks.

He noted that the various government initiatives were aimed at reviving the business community and igniting the entrepreneurial potential of the youth.

"These initiatives capture the essence of our drive to unleash the entrepreneurial favour of our nation's business community, catalysing their potential to galvanise job creation and economic vibrants," he stated.

Mr. Ababio said Ghana Corporate Brands Awards was endorsed by the government as it aligned with government's industrial agenda.

Delivering the keynote address, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo mentioned that in support of government initiatives, the University of Ghana is fostering an innovative culture driven by technology.

"I am particularly intrigued about the theme for this occasion because we are also championing the course of technology at the University of Ghana. As a leading university nurturing exceptional corporate professionals, the University of Ghana under my leadership has championed strategic objectives with the mission to create a culture that promotes research, teaching and learning, administrative processes and extension activities driven by technology and anchored in humanism", she said.

Prof. Appiah Amfo, said various inventiveness are being pursued towards that direction to enhance stakeholder experience through digitisation and the approach is an anchorage of three technology driven initiatives which was actually launched in April last year.

The USD 7million projects include modernising their classroom, one student, and one laptop hot spots comfort zone.

She urged every business entity to strive for notable business branding through innovation and technology within corporate sphere circles.

Ghana Corporate Brands Awards is an annual awards scheme organised by Maven Communications as a premiere platform for the recognition of excellence in corporate branding.

Chief Executive Officer of Maven Communications, Seth Jojo Danso Asante, said this year’s event, created to celebrate the consistency and versatility of corporate brands, aims to amplify the crucial role technology plays in shaping and transforming the corporate landscape.

He said while government is deploying technology across the country, the corporate sector is leaving no stone unturned tapping into such opportunities to transform the economy.

Mr. Asante explained that after the COVID-19 pandemic, they realised that most organisations had their staff working from home and most organisations also jumped on technology, saw improvements in their productivity.
