7 narrowly escape death

Seven persons escaped death narrowly in a road accident on the Bolgatanga-Navrongo highway last Tuesday.

The accident, involving a taxi  and two motorcycles, occurred at about 8:00 a.m. The accident drew a large crowd of road users and residents of nearby communities who impeded human and vehicular movements for close to one hour.

The victims, including five passengers on board the taxi and two motorbike riders, were rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital after receiving first aid from personnel of the National Ambulance Service in the Upper East Region.

At the time of filing this report, no death had been recorded, but the driver of the taxi and a female passenger were suspected  to have suffered broken limbs in addition to deep cuts on their bodies.

Another female passenger sustained a deep cut on the right part of her forehead.

Personnel of the National Ambulance Service, the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service, who responded to the emergency call, rushed to the scene to offer first aid to the victims.

When The Mirror arrived at the scene, personnel of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service were on hand to help salvage the overturned taxi.
