He said he and his people would not resort to violence but use all legal means to resist illegal developers.

In a statement issued in Accra, the chief said for some time now, the people of Brekusu had “fought off” land guards and "multiplicity of spurious suits" on some of their lands.

It added that he and his people would continue to employ legal means to keep encroachers out of his jurisdiction.

The chief, who is also the Twafohene of the Akuapem Traditional Area, said although there had been numerous court judgements in favour of the Abrade Royal Family of Brekusu - which he heads, certain families from the Greater Accra Region had employed all means, including the use of land guards, in a bid to take over Brekusu lands at Abokobi.

"As law-abiding people, we will use all legal avenues to resist any illegal occupation," the statement said.

The statement refuted allegations in a section of the media that the Abrade Royal Family had been restrained from entering the land by the court.

Nana Korankye, in the statement, explained that although there was an earlier injunction, it was vacated by the High Court, Accra, presided over by Mr Justice S.H. Ocran on July 8, 2016.

"We wish to declare that the chief, sub-chiefs and elders together with the people of Brekusu as a community, are law-abiding citizens and we have not defied any court order and, therefore, any impression created to the contrary is unfortunate," the statement said.
