Accordingly, the Buipe Traditional Council is in talks with the Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund (EDAIF) to take up the project, which, upon completion, will serve the whole West African sub-region.

The Chief of Buipe, Buipewura Abdulai Mahama Jinapor II, disclosed this at a special prayer ceremony held in Buipe  to ask for God’s blessings for the market and all those who patronise it.

He said the project would include a lorry park, places of convenience and a guest house to serve traders and customers.

The Buipewura assured the people that the traditional council would work around the clock to bring the project to fruition. He said the market would have a serene environment for trade and commerce within the area and beyond.

The Chairman of the National Cattle Farmers Association of Ghana, Mallam Hanafi, commended the Buipeweura for his commitment towards the development of the Buipe Cattle Market and his effort to transform it to meet international standards.

On behalf of the association, Mallam Hanafi pledged to collaborate with the Buipewura to make sure that the project became a success.

He advised the Fulani community in the area to be law-abiding and take good care of their cattle, so that they do not destroy the crops of farmers. He also urged them to peacefully co-exist with members of their host communities.

The Central Gonja District Director of Agriculture, Alhaji Abdul-Mannan Shaikarao, also thanked the Buipewura for his vision to make the cattle market  an international trading centre.

He said as the head of agriculture in the district, he would ensure peace between cattle rearers and crop farmers.
