Cable company presents lighting accessories to five schools

African Diamond Cable Limited, manufacturers of electric cables, have presented electrical cables and lighting accessories, worth GH¢66,000, to five basic schools in the Tema West municipality.

The donation, which also included fluorescent tubes and flood lights, were to help the beneficiary schools to replace damaged wires, broken connections and for lighting streets around the schools to improve security.

The beneficiary schools were the Holy Child Catholic Pre-School, Holy Child Catholic Basic School, Sakumono School Complex, Tema Community Two Mexico School and the Bethel School Complex.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Mr Mustafa Koray Kunt, told the Daily Graphic, in an interview, that the company responded to appeals made to it by a former Presiding Member of the Tema West Assembly, Mr Kwasi Poku Bosompem.

Community involvement

According to him, African Diamond strongly believed in education and community involvement as a way of enhancing the capacity of students to enable them to perform to the best of their abilities.

Mr Kunt maintained that sustainable partnerships with communities to promote a broad-based theme of education and safety were key to the company’s operations, hence “our decision to honour the request for support.” .

“We believe there is no better investment than the one in the area of education, which is a key factor in driving the future agenda of nations and its human capital,” Mr Kunt added.

He pledged the company’s commitment to support the beneficiary schools with books to enhance their educationMr Kunt urged the beneficiary schools to put the items to good use and endeavour to let the pupils understand the importance of maintenance.

Appreciation

The Parish Priest of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, who also doubles as the Supervisory Head of the Holy Child Schools at Sakumono, Very Rev. Fr Godzi, commended the company for the generosity to the schools.

For his part, Mr Bosompem commended African Diamond for the gesture and expressed appreciation to the company for the pledge to reward the best students in the schools with a laptop each at the end of the academic year.

The former presiding member encouraged the students to make good use of the opportunity and challenge themselves to achieve the best.
