He said the media were a vehicle for development and could not be ignored in any programme geared towards the progress of the nation.

“Any agenda by an individual or organisation aimed at promoting or partnering the government for the advancement of the nation will always be encouraged by the media,” he said.

Mr Tetteh made the call when some executive members of Junior Chamber International (JCI) paid a courtesy call on him in Accra.

He advised the executive members to make use of the other brands of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), namely, The Mirror, Junior Graphic, Graphic Sports, Graphic Showbiz, Graphic Business and Graphic Online.

He assured them of the company’s support and backing in any way it could for JCI’s continuous progress.

JCI is a non-profit organisation of young active individuals aged between 18 and 40 who are committed to making an impact in their communities or societies in any part of the world.

The major responsibility of the group is that it gathers active individuals interested in making a change in their society wherever they find themselves by assisting them to do so through various interventions.

Its vision is to be the leading network of young active citizens across the globe, inspiring in them the need to love their countries and cause positive changes for their betterment.

JCI has members in over 80 countries across the globe, occupying various positions in national and regional organisations.

The executive members  were led by the 2015 Executive Vice President, Mr Basile Djossouvi, based in Benin. He was accompanied by the 2015 National President, Mr Albert Ankrah; the 2015 National Vice Presidents, Ms Priscilla Aninnwaa Oware and Mr Lord Tawiah Natey; the General Secretary, Ms Evelyn Nikabs; the Communications Director, Mr Patrick Nketia and the Project Coordinator, Mr Mohammed Yakubu.

The visit by Mr Djossouvi to Ghana is to promote the upcoming JCI Africa and Middle East Conference scheduled from May 6 to 9, 2015.

The theme for this year’s seminar is, “Transforming socio-economic challenges into opportunities through entrepreneurship”.

It will also be an opportunity to celebrate JCI’s centenary for its impact across the globe since its establishment.

In view of the celebration, it has outlined various programmes and projects aimed at promoting citizens’ activism all over the world.

Collaboration with Graphic

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Vice President, Mr Ankrah emphasised the need for the organisation to partner the GCGL to promote national interest.

“We feel that to promote the national interest, partnering the media, especially Graphic, cannot be ruled out,” he said.

Mr Ankrah stated, “This year will also see JCI members celebrate the lives and communities they have touched, as well as the key roles they have played in shaping the world.”
