Addai, a farmer, was charged for threatening harm. He pleaded guilty with explanation.

In his explanation, Addai admitted threatening the chief and his sub-chief in order to protect his family land, stating, I being the leader of my family, need to protect the family property.

The court however considered the submission of his counsel, Mr Richard Lassey, that the accused was a first-time offender and that he meant no harm in the actual sense but wanted to protect the family property

Mr Lassey further said that he would ensure that the accused rendered an unqualified apology to the affected traditional leaders to ensure that peace prevailed in the area.

Addai was fined 10 penalty units, amounting to GH¢120.00. He was also bonded to be of good behaviour for three months or in default serve six months imprisonment.

The facts of the case presented by the prosecutor, ASP Stephen Billy Addom, to the court presided over by the judge, Mr Charles Acheampong, were that Addai threatened  the lives of  the complainant, Nene Adjei II and Asafoatse Kweku I

ASP Addom said somewhere in July 2015, Nene Natey Ahujaga Asafo Adjei sent some youth including Asafoatse Kweku I to demarcate a parcel of land at Dornya, a suburb of Ayikuma where the Addai used to farm.

The prosecutor said later, the accused called the queenmother of Ayikuma on phone with a message that if he sees the complainants or their subjects on the land, he would either shoot them or cut them into pieces with a cutlass.

ASP Addom said Addai sent the same message to the Asafoatse of the area through the elder brother of the Asafoatse. He said after receiving the threatening messages, the complainants made a report to the police and Addai was arrested.
