Fire guts T.I. Ahmadiyya boys’ dormitory in Fomena
The boys’ dormitory of the T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School at Fomena was on Wednesday gutted by fire.
Some rooms on the first floor of the dormitory (Abubonsra House) were completely burnt.
There has not been any reported case of injury since the incident occurred in the morning when the students were in the classroom.
The fire, however, destroyed the belongings of over 90 students. The burnt items included trunks, chop boxes, mattresses, clothes and books.
Incident
According to the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration of the school, Mr Ibrahim Bin Adams, the incident occurred at about 11 a.m. during classes hours.
He said some students who spotted the fire immediately raised an alarm.
Mr Adams said when the authorities rushed to the dormitory; they saw thick billows of smoke emanating from the building.
