GBC’s Nsowah Adjei installed chief of Atomfuorso

The Ashanti Regional Editor of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Mr Thomas Nsowah Adjei, has been installed the new Chief of Atomfuorso near Seikwa in the Tain District in the Brong Ahafo Region.

His stool name is Nana Ekye Nsowah-Adjei and he succeeds Nana Kofi Adamu Ababio who passed away in 2011.

Speaking at his coronation at Atomfuorso, Nana Nsowah-Adjei assured the elders and people of the town of his commitment to promote quality education, health care and agriculture during his tenure.

He said he was in consultation with the management of the Crops Research Institute (CRI) of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for the establishment of close working relationship with residents of the town who are predominantly farmers, as a means to improve food crop yields in the area.

He expressed his concern about the layout of communities in the area and appealed to the Tain District Assembly to consider the matter and come up with a sound area plan for communities in the territory. 

He urged chiefs in the area to be mindful of the constitutional provision that prohibits chiefs from engaging in active partisan politics.

The President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr Kwabena Opoku Adusei, charged Nana Nsowah-Adjei to be firm, courageous, tolerant and prayerful in order to succeed as a traditional leader.

For his part, the Tafo-Pankrono Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Rev. Dr Nana Nyamekye Ameyaw, encouraged the Atomfuorso community to cooperate and collaborate with the new chief, queenmother and the elders to promote peace.

He said land litigations, divisiveness, broken homes and social vices that impede development should be avoided.

He commended Nana Nsowah-Adjei for his decision to revisit the traditions of  the area which have over the years promoted peace among the people of Atumfuorso.

Nana Ekye Nsowah-Adjei had his basic education at the Atomfuorso Presbyterian School and continued to the Sunyani Senior High School for his Ordinary and Advanced Levels of education.

He further enrolled in the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) in Accra, after which he was employed by the GBC as a reporter.

He is a Presbyterian and married with children.
