Among the facilities to be provided are a single-storey dormitory each for boys and girls and a 12-unit classroom block for the school, to be completed within 18 months.

A Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Emmanuel Kojo Agyekum, made this known when he visited some projects in the district as part of a week’s  tour by the top hierarchy of the ministry.

Other projects inspected included the Kpembe market, a housing project for health workers,  renovation work on  the children's ward at the Salaga District Hospital, the construction of a three-unit classroom block at Iddrisiyya Junior High School in Salaga and a 10-seater aqua privy at Nfabaso in Salaga.

Mr Agyekum also donated two desktop computers to the Kpembe Nursing, Midwifery and Health Assistants Training College to promote teaching and learning.

About the school

The school  was established in 2008 by the Ministry of Health and started with a student population of 58. However, with the increasing number of students admitted every year, there is an urgent need to expand its infrastructure to accommodate them.

The Principal of the school, Hajia Shirley Issah, said through its internally-generated funds, the school had constructed a girls dormitory, a four-unit lecture hall, and a mechanised borehole to provide water.

Additionally , the  assembly, through its District Development Facility (DDF) had also constructed a two-unit lecture hall and places of convenience for the school.

She, however, appealed for more support from the government to increase the facilities to enable more students to be admitted.

Other projects

Mr Agyekum expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on development projects in the district.

Later at a staff durbar, the minister expressed his dismay at the behaviour of some civil servants, especially the district co-ordinating directors’ attitude towards work.

He said it was high time sector heads demonstrated seriousness, innovation and creativity at their respective departments to increase productivity.

Service

Mr Agyekum noted that occupying such public offices was not all about by Red AdBlocker" href="#">making money but rendering quality services to improve the lives of the people.

He said it was important  that the officers constantly upgraded themselves in every field of endeavour and also ensured that their staff lived up to expectation in the execution of their respective tasks.

Staff concerns

Some of the staff mentioned the lack of resources, teamwork and training as some of the factors affecting their output.
