Adequate security measures in place for elections - Volta Region police assure
The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Andrews Boadu-Ekumah, has assured the citizenry that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure peace and order at all the 2,349 polling stations in the 18 constituencies of the region during the upcoming elections.
“We have also deployed adequate security personnel at the polling stations and vantage points in readiness for the exercise,” he added.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police said this last Sunday when he led members of the Volta Regional Security Task Force to join the service at the Ho-Bankoe Elorm E.P. Church.
They worshipped with the congregation to brief them on plans by the task force to prevent untoward incidents during the elections.
The regional police commander made it clear that the police were fully committed to peace during the elections and cautioned that any miscreant whose unruly conduct disrupted proceedings at any polling station would suffer swift and ruthless consequences.
He said security was a joint responsibility between the security agencies and the public, urging that every unpleasant conduct by any individual or group must be reported to the security agencies without delay.
Law and order
DCOP Boadu-Ekumah said the police would be joined by personnel of the other security agencies to maintain law and order at the polling stations.
Although there would be no military personnel at the polling stations, he said, they may be called in to assist in quelling chaos at the polling stations if they arose.

“We expect every voter to go to his polling station, cast his vote and leave the station,” he told the congregation.
He warned that anyone who turned up at a polling station holding an offensive weapon would face the full rigours of the law.
The Deputy Volta Regional Police Commander, ACP Joseph Owusu-Ansah, warned political parties to refrain from bringing vigilantes to the polling stations.
“We are capable of enforcing the law at the polling stations and so, we will not tolerate any vigilante groups at the stations,” he cautioned.
