Adjiringanor residents association asks for better roads
The Adjiringanor North Motorway Area Residents Association has appealed to the Adenta Municipal Assembly to ensure that the area is properly demarcated and the road network and drainage systems are properly constructed.
It said street names should also be given in order to make access to the community easy especially for emergency services such as ambulance.
With most of the roads in the community dusty and littered with potholes, the association said, it made it difficult for both motorists and pedestrians to use the route.
While motorists had to meander their way around the potholes just to avoid bumping into them, pedestrians and passengers had to endure the heavy dust generated by moving vehicles on the laterite-filled roads.
The Chairman of the residents association, Kofi Amoa-Awuah, said this at an end-of-year party organised by the association for underprivileged children in the community.
Mr Amoa-Awuah said due to the bad nature of their roads, flooding occur in most parts of the area whenever it rained, creating a messy situation.
“You can't move easily. If you're in a hurry to go to work, you have to deal with all these bad roads. If there's an emergency, you call an ambulance and see. Even if the streets are named and the houses are properly numbered, navigating the bad roads in rainy season affects us,” he lamented.
Municipal assembly
He said they had made their complaints known to the municipal assembly, who even though were willing to help said they lacked adequate resources to solve them.
Mr Amoa-Awuah said the party was the association’s way of helping the children to enjoy the season.
For that reason, he said, aside from the children being treated to food and drinks, they were given various educational materials including school bags and stationery materials.
A member of the association, Joana Ferguson Amo, advised the children to cultivate the spirit of giving, thanksgiving and generosity.
She said they should also be grateful for the gifts of God in order not to be seen as ingrates.
Present at the party was the Minister in charge of the Most Rev. Kwesi A. Dickson Memorial Methodist Church, Very Rev. Yaw Addai-Yeboah.
