BPA commits to fight against illegal mining on Black Volta

The Bui Power Authority (BPA) has donated two pickup vehicles to the Bono Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).

The gesture forms part of ongoing efforts to support the fight against illegal mining activities within the Banda district and the Bui, areas of critical ecological importance.

In a brief address delivered on his behalf by a Manager at BPA, Kwadwo Otopah-Poakwa, during a presentation ceremony, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the BPA, Kow Eduakwa Sam, reaffirmed the authority’s dedication to protecting vital waterbodies in the region.

He further announced that the BPA would provide monthly fuel support to enhance patrol efforts and bolster the campaign against illegal mining.

The Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, received the vehicles on behalf of the council and expressed gratitude to the BPA for the timely and generous contribution.

He commended the authority for its proactive stance in safeguarding the region’s natural resources and pledged to ensure the vehicles were used effectively in line with the intended purpose.

The donation marks another milestone in the collaborative efforts between public institutions and local authorities to preserve Ghana’s environment for future generations.
