The Chairman of PuSMAG, Abdul-Samad Abubakar, briefed the Chief Imam on the association's objectives, which included promoting the welfare of Muslim public servants and leveraging their knowledge and experiences to advance the development needs of Muslims and Ghanaians in general.

Mr Abubakar stated that the association aims to facilitate the participation of Muslim public servants in public service organisations and Muslim communities, provide guidance and share experiences with the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA) and Muslim communities, and facilitate access to educational and training opportunities for members and the Muslim community.

The National Chief Imam expressed excitement about the association's objectives, describing them as noble.

Values

He advised members to uphold values such as unity, service, excellence and integrity to achieve their goals.

The Chief Imam also urged PuSMAG to engage in activities that would benefit the broader Muslim community, such as providing educational and economic empowerment programmes, promoting health and wellness initiatives and supporting the development of Muslim youth.

He emphasised the importance of unity, noting that divisiveness had never advanced any society and encouraged members to remain united. The Constitution of PuSMAG was adopted in May 2023 by a cross-section of Muslim public servants.

Membership is open to persons working in state institutions and the association is national in character, non-partisan, non-political, non-sectarian, non-ethnic and non-tribal.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent Muslim leaders, public servants and community members. It featured prayers, speeches, and a presentation of the association's constitution and objectives.

With its inauguration, PuSMAG is poised to become a leading voice for Muslim public servants in Ghana, promoting their welfare and development and contributing to the advancement of the broader Muslim community.
