Dr. Bawumia dares NDC to create their own infrastructure delivery tracker

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is challenging the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to create an infrastructure delivery tracker, similar to the one built by the government, to show projects they  undertook during their time in office, and to engender proper tracking.

Dr. Bawumia threw the challenge when he responded to claims by the opposition party that 26 out of the government's over 17,000 listed infrastructural projects did not exist or were stolen projects.

“Now the NDC, should go and put a similar website together, they do not need to be in power, they say they have been there, they can do this work without being in power and they have the data. I’m challenging them to just put this on their website and we can interrogate this data, district by district, and I can tell you, they cannot do it, because a lot of the project they talked about does not exist”.

“It’s good to criticise but it’s more important to also show what you have done; they cannot show what they have done at this level of detail. Maybe they can take the next two weeks to put it out and then we can also interrogate”, he challenged.

Infrastructure Delivery Tracker

The Vice President who was speaking as a guest on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show on Tuesday said that the delivery tracker was to ensure transparency and accountability in government's delivery of infrastructure.

“There are two aspects of the website; the first is our promises, what we have done, what we promised, and the status of that promise. The second part is on infrastructure; we have put together what we have done across all 216 districts to allow people to check for themselves what we have done".

"This is going to be a live website and we will update it as we go along. It’s not like we will come and state that we have done so many projects, we are showing you at the micro-level where each of these things are", he said.

He said the tracker was the first of its kind in Ghana and Africa.

"One of the things that we should be very proud of as a country is this website. Ghana is the only country in Africa that has it, that you can go and check what the government is doing for you", he said.
