The annual CR&S, which is in its eighth edition, forms part of FirstBank’s efforts to make an impact on the local communities in which the banks operate with emphasis on projects in the area of youth, health and education.

It also serves as a platform for employees to mobilise support for initiatives that foster community development.

Rationale

The Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank Ghana, Victor Yaw Asante, and other managers of the bank presented dummy cheques to the beneficiaries at the bank’s head office yesterday.

Mr Asante explained that the celebration of the CR&S Week was ample proof of the company’s commitment towards putting its communities and stakeholders first.

“We are able to do all these because it is in our brand’s DNA to place our stakeholders first. For us at FirstBank it is, therefore, a matter of habit to attend to the needs of our communities and deliver value to them. This is how we deliver meaning to our brand promise; ‘You First’,” he said.

Earlier, the CEO launched the theme for the week-long celebration.

Dubbed “Start Performing Acts of Random Kindness (SPARK): A way of life”, the theme, he said, was to empower staff to go beyond the normal acts and add a humane touch to whatever they did.

He, therefore, urged the staff to go beyond just the monetary donations to spend time with the beneficiaries.

“Every act of kindness counts, and collectively, we can create a powerful movement of positive change.

“Let us make this CR&S Week not just a week of positive action but a mindset that continues throughout the year,” he said.

Moving forward, he explained that the bank would continue to support people making strides in  the development of the youth, education and health care while engaging in socially responsible activities to inspire innovative solutions that address social challenges, which in turn drive business growth and customer loyalty.

Gratitude

A 20-year-old cancer survivor, Franklin Amoako, who has been funded by Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana throughout his treatment journey and is currently teaching other patients Mathematics and English, thanked FirstBank for the support.

“I give FirstBank thanks for giving children like me a chance at life again through their support.

“I will never give up because people like you (FirstBank) have never given up on me,” he said.
