PCG Commissions Ministerial Probationers
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has strengthened its commitment to raising faithful leaders for the gospel by commissioning 23 ministerial probationers into the Holy Ministry.
The event which was held in Accra last Sunday (June 1st, 2025), under the authority of the moderator of the general assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye was to ensure the Church maintains a strong, faithful, and well-prepared leadership to continue spreading the message of Christ, caring for congregations, and contributing to the church’s growth goal, "2 million souls and 1,000 churches" vision.
Sacred Milestone in Ministry
Held in a spirit of deep reverence, the commissioning ceremony marked a significant spiritual milestone for the probationers, who have completed their theological training and spiritual formation.
The probationers were licensed as preachers of the gospel and commissioners of the Holy Ministry, empowered to administer the sacraments and serve congregations throughout Ghana and beyond.
Those commissioned included Joseph Affoh, Emmanuel Akoto- Akrofi, John Garin Isaac Ameyaw, Isaac Shepherd Annor, Emmanuel Antwi, Poku Asare Bediako, Fidelis Atubiga, Steve Boakye Awuah, Kelvin Appeakorang Banson, Josephine Darkos Djan Bempong, George Ofori Attah Bondzie, Felix Mustapha Darkwah, Prince Frimpong, Bernard Okyere Koomson, Isaac Dede Kwakye, Edward Larbi, Daniel Amoako Nyamekye, Richard Agyei Odame, Ferdinand Collins Peter Ohene-Annobi, Fredrick Yeboah Oppong, Samuel Boahene Oppong, Jonathan Quist-Darko and Timothy Tetteh Terkper.
Serve
Rt. Rev. Dr Kwakye charged ministers to preach only Christ, crucified and risen messages to both non-believers and their congregations.
He urged them to be humble shepherds, to care for the poor and the weak, and to lead lives that reflect the teachings of Christ.
He concluded with a solemn reminder: “The call to ministry is not one of status, but of sacrifice and service.
You are being sent out to witness to the kingship of Christ in a broken world. Let your lives and your leadership bear testimony to the love and truth of the gospel.”
Pledge
The newly commissioned ministerial probationers expressed heartfelt gratitude to God. Speaking on behalf of the group, a representative acknowledged God's sovereignty and the call to serve in various capacities within the Church.
The ministers pledged full commitment to the growth of the Church, particularly in its “2 million souls and 1,000 churches” vision.
They promised to uphold the doctrines of the Presbyterian Church and deepen the spirituality of its members.
