Yilo Krobo MCE pledges to work with stakeholders
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in Yilo Krobo in the Eastern Region, Francis Addo Akumatey, has pledged to maintain a cordial relationship with all stakeholders in the municipality in order to fulfil the reset agenda of President John Mahama.
He said as the MCE, he is a supervisor of the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly and, therefore, needed to ensure he worked well with all the technocrats in the assembly who had been in the system for long in order to succeed.
“In fact, seriously speaking, as the MCE I need to bring everybody, including all workers of the assembly as well as all other stakeholders, be it the traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations and, above all, you the media for the reset policy of the area.”
“As the new MCE, I have inherited an assembly with all the workers full of trust and confidence.
What I need to do is to continue to maintain that very cordial relationship, trust and confidence in them and we shall continue to sail through smoothly.”
“In the same way, I appreciate your relationship with me even though I just took over some few months now.
I can assure you that going forward, I shall also continue to reciprocate the same gesture to do what is expected of me as the MCE,” Mr Akumatey assured.
Media engagement
Mr Akumatey gave the assurance during his first official engagement with the media in the Krobo Enclave in his office on Thursday, June 26, 2025 on the theme: “The media plays key role in nation building: We need collaboration”.
The media houses present included the Daily Graphic, Ghana News Agency, Rite FM, a local radio station at Somanya, Marigo Television, Anigye FM, Angel Television, Onua Television, Trust FM, Asesewa, among others.
He said he being the Chief Executive of the assembly was not because he was the most intelligent and knowledgeable person in Yilo Krobo, but it was a lot that fell on him to be the leader and therefore pleaded with all stakeholders, especially the media, to support him as they had started.
Accurate facts
“My only plea is that as media, you are always on the field and you get more information from the field than probably I may have.
What I want you to do in order to help me and the entire assembly, and for that matter the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, is to come to me and verify whatever information you have from the field concerning issues of the assembly before publication.”
“If you come and we discuss together with my technocrats, you will then know the better angle to take for your story that will not create any challenge for you and your media house and for that matter the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly,” Mr Akumatey pleaded.
He explained that most often, some reporters nationwide get very much excited and become highly emotional as soon as they get any information and would not verify the details from the authorities concerned but quickly publish the news, which most often is not the actual truth.
He said as much as media houses want to be the first to break the news, it must be the real facts devoid of sensationalism, which might have the tendency to create problems for either the assembly or the media house.
“In summary, we shall work together cordially in the interest of Yilo Krobo and Mother Ghana. Yours as media is to engage, verify and have accurate facts for your stories,” he advised.
On behalf of his colleagues, Prosper Angmortey of Anigye FM assured the new MCE that the Krobo enclave journalists would do the needful by publishing accurate facts devoid of litigation.
