Govt committed to partnering private sector — Pelpuo
The Minister of State at the Presidency in charge of Public Private Partnership, Mr Rashid Pelpuo, has reiterated the commitment of the government to partner the private sector in reducing the housing deficit in Ghana.

He said this when executive members of a Moroccan real estates company, Palmeraie Holding, led by the Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana, Mrs Nesha Alaoui M’hammdi, paid a courtesy call on him in Accra.
Mr Pelpuo also gave the assurance that the government would provide the necessary incentives that would enhance the capacity of the private sector in providing affordable housing units.
He told the Daily Graphic that there was the need for the government to partner the private sector to reduce the housing deficit in Ghana.
Mr Pelpuo described the visit by the Moroccan delegation as “timely”, and assured the investors of the government’s support to ensure the success of their investments.
“We shall collaborate with them to ensure that they are all provided with the necessary information and materials for their intended investments”, he said.
Investment in affordable housing
Mr Hicham Berrada, a Co-President of the Palmeraie Holding, told the Daily Graphic, his outfit would soon commence the construction of affordable houses in Ghana, and pledged their commitment to reduce the housing deficit in Ghana.
“We have a wealth of experience in the provision of affordable and luxury housing and have also invested in tourism development. Our experience will help boost the local economy and we are dedicated to this affordable housing project,” he said.

He said their intended investments in Ghana were inspired by the vision of the king of Morocco to increase investments in West Africa, adding that “we want to partner with the government to provide affordable housing”.
After certain pre-requisite arrangements are concluded, Mr Berrada said his company would invest over $100 million in providing affordable housing in Ghana.
