House burnt in Kumasi

A 52-year-old borehole drilling and building contractor in Kumasi lost all his belongings when his rented house at Boadi Junction in Kumasi got burnt.

The six-room building and personal belongings running into thousands of cedis were all destroyed.

Narrating his ordeal, the contractor, Mr James Atta Mensah, Managing Director (MD) of JA -MENS Company Limited, said he had occupied the house for over 15 years.

He said many of his important documents were therefore in the house that got burnt.

Mr Atta Mensah said he left home to work at Ejisu leaving his 14-year-old niece and his driver's four-year-old child at home.

He said at about 2.30 p.m. he received a call from his sister that his residence was in flames so he quickly drove to the scene where he saw a team of Fire Service Personnel fighting the fire.

He said his niece told him they saw smoke in the ceiling at the location of the sitting room and sensing danger, they left the house.

Mr Atta Mensa said he had informed the owner of the house, Wofa Salifu Bio, an Accra-based businessman and the police.
