The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has announced that the Ministry is fast-tracking its transition from paper-based recruitment to a fully digital, paperless system following the tragic incident at the El Wak Sports Stadium, which claimed the lives of six potential Ghana Armed Forces recruits and left several others injured.
According to the Minister, the new system will allow applicants to complete the entire recruitment process remotely.
“In line with that, at the comfort of your home, probably for the first time, you can start the process and finish with your mobile phone via the USSD code which will be published by Sunday [Nov 16],” he said.
He added that the web address and USSD shortcode for the new recruitment portal will be publicly released on Sunday, November 16.
Mr Muntaka explained that the ministry is developing a robust and centralised e-recruitment portal designed to harmonise and standardise recruitment processes across all security agencies under the Interior Ministry.
He said the new platform will offer transparency, efficiency, and real-time tracking for applicants throughout the entire process.
“You can monitor the progress of your application, when you will be called for a particular exercise. If it is screening, you will know through your phone. When you are to appear for medicals, you will be notified if you qualify for the next stage. All these updates you can monitor from your phone,” he noted.
Acknowledging concerns about network connectivity disparities across the country, the Minister said alternative access points have been created to ensure no applicant is disadvantaged. Applicants in areas with poor network coverage will be able to obtain vouchers through any Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) branch or Ghana Post office nationwide.
Mr. Muntaka described the new application system as seamless, secure, and user-friendly, capable of handling large volumes of applications without technical difficulties.
“The application process will be seamless and online, utilising a robust and secure platform designed to handle a large volume of applications efficiently. The portal is very user-friendly and easy to navigate, even for those who struggle with IT, allowing you to apply from the comfort of your home without any stress. The portal will be accessible on multiple devices including smartphones, tablets, and computers,” he assured.
