‘Jungle fever’ hits Graphic

Anyone who visited the head office of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) last week Friday would have realised that something unusual was happening.

Although staff were not in uniform, there was an obvious similarity in how most of them had dressed, with the commonest being leopard prints.

Staff appeared in variant shades of animal prints in different designs with some in matching face masks.
Last Friday’s event, “Jungle Fever”, was the second edition of the company’s monthly themed event dubbed: “Fantastic Fridays”, which forms part of activities to mark the company's 70th anniversary.

The first edition, “Paint The Town Red”, held in June saw members of staff turn up in fashionable outfits, showing off GCGL’s brand colours — red and white — in various designs.

Before midday, the social media pages had been flooded with pictures of staff both at home and at their offices with a clear indication that people had prepared well and were ready to grab prizes sponsored by Guinness Ghana Breweries, Ashfoam Ghana and Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL).

It was evident that the anniversary committee would have a tough time choosing winners for the categories as winners in the first edition had also upped their game to defend their titles.

Staff in the regional offices and those working from home as part of measures put in place by the company in line with the social distancing protocols were not left out as they sent pictures of themselves

in their ‘jungle wears’ to the company’s various social media platforms.

About an hour to the close of entries, the Photo Editor, Mr Douglas Anane-Frimpong, currently working from home, pulled a surprise with pictures of his unique jungle regalia.

He had donned a horned headwear, a leopard skin cover cloth and carried a bow and leopard mascot.
It was, therefore, not surprising when he emerged winner in three categories; Best from Home Male, Best in Creativity Male and Best Dressed Male.

Adwoa Oforiwaa Turkson, the Research Manager, was the winner in the Best Dressed Female category, with the Human Resource Department emerging winners in the Inter-Department category.

Other winners were Mary Bonaventure, Clinic, Best in Creativity Female; Doreen Hammond, Editor, Junior Graphic, Best from Home Female; Kwadwo Donkor, Kumasi Office, Regional Nominee Male, and Eugenia McCready, Tema Office, Regional Nominee Female.

Prizes were also awarded to runners-up in all the categories.
