Man fined GH¢180 for stealing
A 19-year-old man has been fined GH¢180 for stealing Emmanuel Koduah pleaded guilty for unlawful entry and two counts of stealing when he appeared before the Amasaman District Court B.
His failure to pay the fine will attract a six-month imprisonment term.
The facts of the case as presented to the court by the Prosecutor, Sergeant Salifu Nashiru, were that the complainant, Kwasi Asamoah, a sprayer, lives in Koduah’s father’s house at Tantra Hill in Accra.
Sgt Nashiru said about 1 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015, Asamoah left the house to meet his wife who was returning from a journey.
When they returned home about 2:30 a.m., they found their door open and the room ransacked.
Koduah, on seeing Asamoah, took to his heels and was given a hot chase but managed to escape.
In his attempt to escape Koduah left behind four pieces of cloth and a DVD player.
Sgt Nashiru said Asamoah also realised that an amount of GH¢1,000 had been stolen from his room.
A complaint was made to the police and on July 14, 2015, Koduah was apprehended.
