Positive attitude key to career success – Osita Oparaugo tells Ghanaian

The Founder of GetBundi Education Technology and Doballi, Osita Oparaugo, has urged Ghanaian youth to prioritise positive attitude as the most important factor in achieving long-term career success.

He made the call during the onboarding ceremony for 3,000 Ghanaian youths beginning training as customer service representatives under a partnership between GetBundi, Doballi, and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Ghana.

 The initiative will equip participants with in-demand skills in virtual administration, customer support, and other remote work fields.

Delivering a keynote address titled “Beyond Skills: The Attitude Edge in Contact Center Hiring”, Mr Oparaugo emphasised that while technical skills are crucial, they are not enough to sustain a successful career.

“We can teach you what to do, but we can’t teach you how to behave,” he said, echoing a principle embraced by many global employers. “The right attitude doesn’t just get you hired, it gets you promoted.”

He noted that employers increasingly prioritise mindset over mere competence, hiring for attitude and training for skill. According to him, in roles such as customer service, call centre operations, and virtual assistance, a professional and accountable disposition directly influences job performance and customer satisfaction.

Outlining six key pillars of workplace attitude, he stressed that skills can be taught but attitude is ingrained, that positivity drives growth, and that accountability and teamwork are essential for thriving in remote roles.

With GetBundi providing cutting-edge training and Doballi linking African talents to global employers, Mr Oparaugo encouraged participants to see this opportunity as a stepping stone to professional excellence.

“Your skill gets you in the door. Your attitude keeps you there,” he concluded, urging the trainees to embrace professionalism, responsibility, and continuous self-improvement as they embark on their new career paths.
