Radio presenter to face court for deceit of public
The YFM presenter, Adaeze Onyinyechie Ayoka, who recently hit local headlines with what the police later described as a cooked kidnapping and sexual assault encounter is to be charged with deceit of the public.
The presenter, popularly known as Ms Ada, will be charged alongside Nelson Williams, 18, for allegedly conspiring with others on the run to stage her kidnapping and sexual assault.

When the case was called yesterday at the Kaneshie Magistrate Court, the prosecutor, Police Inspector Anin Darko, informed the court that Adaeze was still on admission at the Police Hospital.
Nelson was, however, in court.
The court, presided over by Mrs Adwoa Akyaamaa Ofosu, sought to find out from the prosecution when Adaeze was admitted to the hospital and when she would be discharged.
The prosecutor told the court that the accused person had been at the hospital since April 16, 2015, but he could not tell when she would be discharged.
The prosecution was tight-lipped on what charges would be preferred against the accused persons, but on the court’s notice board ‘conspiracy’ was listed as the charge.
The prosecutor also referred to Adaeze as the ‘second accused person’.
Inspector Darko prayed the court to adjourn the case to June 10, 2015, by which time he hoped the accused person might have been discharged.

Background
April 14
The story of the missing Takoradi-based YFM presenter took the nation by storm, as reports of her kidnapping and suspected sexual assault traversed the traditional and social media landscape.
YFM had, on April 13, put out a notice that the presenter had gone missing and wanted the public to help locate her.
Pictures of her alleged sexual molestation went viral on social media later on the same day.
She was found on the same day and admitted to the GPHA Hospital in Takoradi.

The police in Takoradi revealed that the incident was the fifth time the presenter had gone missing, adding that on those previous occasions she had refused to cooperate with the police.
According to the police, they had recorded five incidents in the last two years, with the incident before the latest one being reported in February 2015.
April 15
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) directed that Adaeze, who is known in real life as Naana Akosua Appiah Antwi, should be transferred to Accra.

That was because the police had gathered fresh evidence that pointed to the fact that the whole incident might have been stage-managed.
The police also gathered that the whole incident, whether it had been staged or, indeed, happened, as had been claimed by the presenter, had taken place in Accra and not Takoradi, as widely reported.
April 16
Nelson, who the police said helped Ada to stage her own kidnapping and rape, was arrested by the police.

Nelson, aka Iddrisu, a painter resident at Abossey Okai in Accra, was reportedly arrested about 10 p.m.; a day after the nude pictures of the woman at the centre of the incident had gone viral.
April 17
Nelson was put before court and remanded in police custody for investigations to continue.
He was taken to meet Ada at the Police Hospital on the same day as part of police investigations.
April 30
Nelson was granted bail by the Kaneshie Magistrate Court. The decision followed the inability of the police to interrogate Ada.

Some medical officials at the Police Hospital pushed for psychiatric examination of the presenter.
The move, according to media reports, was due to the victim’s uncooperative attitude at the hospital where she was receiving treatment.
According to the report, some sources close to Ada claimed she might be pretending to be unwell.
