The presentation, which was part of the social responsibility and humanitarian work of the club, was to support the centre with sufficient and relevant reading materials for the children who patronise the place.

Presenting the books, the President of the Club, Mr Philip deSouza, said the donation was part of the humanitarian activities of Rotary Club and was convinced that the books would be a source of knowledge for the children.

He said he was hopeful that the books would be put at the disposal of the children and assured that the club would return with more of such donations.

Receiving the items, the Founder of the Reading Centre, Mrs Joana Degbe, thanked the club for choosing her centre to donate the books.

She said the centre, which was started in 2010, opened to children on Fridays and Saturdays and had an average of 70 children patronising at a time.

The secretary to the club, Ms Gertrude Deed Attorney, explained that the books were supplied to the club from the Rotary Club of Tema Book Depot at Tema.
