She said putting smiles on the faces of the needy was refreshing and rewarding, especially during the Christmas season.

Madam Gomashie made the call when she presented items worth GH¢20,000 on behalf of the Orphans Care Foundation to two orphanages.

The two orphanages are the St Anna's Family Home at Winneba and the Royal Seed Home at Bawjiase, both in the Central Region.

Items

The items, including bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, toiletries, soft drinks, secondhand clothes, toys, textbooks and exercise books, were presented to the two orphanages at a special Christmas party held for them at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra.

Madam Gomashie, who interacted and danced with the children, later served them with packed lunch.

It was an opportunity for the children to play, dance and enjoy themselves in bouncy castles at the Lizzy Sports Complex.

Care for needy

Madam Gomashie said there was the need for Ghanaians to develop the habit of caring for one another, “and for me, such is the society that we need to develop,” she said.

She also said there were many people who had in abundance but did not know exactly who to give to so the media organisations and orphanages were places that such donations could be sent to for onward presentation to the needy.

The Founder of the St Anna’s Family Home, Mrs Emelia Turkson Ndom, and a mother at Royal Seed Home, Ms Esther Sakyi, received the items on behalf of their respective homes.

They pledged to use the items to the benefit of the children in the various homes.
