According to the MP, the comments were unwelcoming and that his actions were fueled by anger following the removal of the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr Sampson Owusu Boateng, which ignited clashes from supporters of the MP and the DCE.

He said he would render official apologies to the traditional authority.

“Accept me as your son and forgive me; I was unaware of all that I said”, Mr Nanja was reported as saying on Citi FM's midday news..

In a press release made available to the Daily Graphic, the Atebubu Traditional Council stated that the MP had been banned from attending any social event or funeral organised within the Atebubu Traditional Area.

According to the Council, it was a criminal offence to insult any member of the traditional council, adding that the MP was not remorseful after he made the statement against the queen mother.

They believe that the punishment would serve as a deterrent to individuals associated with the MP.
