SDA Hospital Fiapre preparing to attain secondary status

The Seventh Day Adventist Hospital at Fiapre near Sunyani is planning to expand its operations from a primary facility to a secondary hospital in the next five years.

It has begun the process which includes upgrading infrastructure, as well as recruiting the needed human resource.

The Administrator of the SDA Hospital, Enoch Nketia, who made this known, said the hospital was steadily meeting requirements to enable it to attain the second hospital status.

"Obtaining second hospital status is not only about infrastructure, but human resources such as the specialised services you render to the people," he said.

He spoke with the Daily Graphic on the sidelines of the hospital's annual thanksgiving and awards service.

Expansion

Mr Nketia said for the past 20 years, the hospital has consistently improved its infrastructure and capacity to make it better placed to render efficient and effective service to its clients.

He also stated that it had expanded its scope in the area of services after training more doctors in different fields.

He said the hospital was also aggressively investing in infrastructure development to accommodate doctors.

As part of the expansion, the SDA hospital administrator stated that the hospital had included a histopathology lab that provided services such as histopathology and cytology.

"It is the only facility serving Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions," Mr Nketia said, explaining that before the establishment of that unit in 2023, patients had to travel to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi to access pathology services.

He appealed to the government and individuals to support members of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) with medical tools and equipment to improve their services.
