We’ll fully implement new CBA -Graphic MD assures workers

The Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, has given an assurance that the company will ensure the full implementation of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) signed between workers and management. Unionised staff of the GCGL, who are also members of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), and management started the negotiations for a new CBA.

Failure of management and the union to reach an agreement led to the intervention and arbitration of a third party, the National Labour Commission (NLC).

Upon receiving the final judgment of the NLC, which forms part of the CBA, management, together with the union, is working closely to implement the agreement.

Speaking at the company’s head office in Accra where the new CBA was signed  on Friday, Mr Ashigbey reiterated the commitment of management, in collaboration with the staff, to implement the agreement.

He stressed the need for an effective collaboration between the staff and management to ensure the achievement of the company’s goals and targets.

According to Mr Ashigbey, management has already begun the implementation of the CBA, and expressed his gratitude to the staff and ICU for their efforts in ensuring an amicable settlement process of their grievances.

For his part, the General Secretary of the ICU, Mr Solomon Kotei, said the union had accepted the judgement made by the NLC, and also pledged the commitment of staff in ensuring the implementation of the CBA.

He also expressed his appreciation to the management of the GCGL for their co-operation during the period of arbitration.

Present during the signing of the CBA were Ms Peggy Addo, the Director of Human Resource and Administration; Kwesi Kersi, the Director Technical Services; Mr Kwabena Baah Adade, the Director of Finance; Mr Kobby Asmah, Political Page Editor; and Mr Albert Sam, the Director of Corporate Communications.

Representatives of the ICU local union, included Mr Henry Addo, Mr William Ashaley, Ms Salomey Boahemaa, and Mr Willie Ahaley who represented the Senior Staff Association.
