Bonsu sues two assembly members

The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr Kojo Bonsu, has dragged two assembly members to court for defaming him.  He is seeking GH¢300,000 in damages.

He is also praying the court to restrain the defendants, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye and Addai Philip and their agents from further writing or publishing any of the allegations.

The two are alleged to have made series of allegations on radio and in print that the KMA boss has sold out a tract of land opposite the KMA office to a Korean firm, as well as precast parcel of land without the assembly’s approval.

They alleged on February 18, 2014, on Fox FM in Kumasi, the MCE through his agent, one Henry Osei Akoto, had collected GH¢57,200 from market women.

The plaintiff, Mr Bonsu, said through his lawyers, Poku and Associates, that by the allegation, he had been greatly injured in his credit, character, and reputation in his office and occupation, and had been brought into  public scandal and contempt.
