Country’s economic challenges exaggerated — NDC Central Regional Chairman
The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Adu Yeboah, has said the issue of the country’s economic challenges is being exaggerated.

He indicated that although the economy had suffered some setbacks in recent months, Ghanaians were better off now than they were six years ago.
“We cannot pretend that we are in the best of times, but we are not in crisis as being portrayed by our critics,” he said.
He said many had stated in various fora that the cost of living had become unbearable but that could not be true.
In a press statement, Mr Yeboah said that the branch was confident in the ability of the managers of our nation’s economy led by the Vice President and the able Minister of Finance, Mr Seth Terkper, to put the economy on a better footing.
“Many salaried workers are now receiving better salaries and so their tastes have changed. The reality is that Ghanaians are better off now than they were in 2008.”
According to the statement, the NDC expected the economy to stabilise and improve significantly in the next few months to make Ghanaians more comfortable.
The statement issued at the branch’s regular meeting in Cape Coast (of the Regional Executive Committee) said, “We renew our faith and confidence in the leadership of the nation especially the President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, whose vision for a ‘Better Ghana’ is shared by the majority of Ghanaians in his endorsement in the 2012 elections.”

The statement said the party appreciated the ability of all Ghanaians in standing together with the government in spite of the various differences in its quest towards achieving a better Ghana for all.
“We appreciate the fact that in spite of these difficulties development projects are ongoing all over the country,” it said.
The statement appealed to Ghanaians to bear with the government in these difficult times of the nation’s history, adding: “We have confidence in the government’s ability to overcome these temporary setbacks.”
