Danquah Institute ready to manage NPP’s ideological institute

The Danquah Institute (DI) has accepted the responsibility to manage the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ideological Institute.

At the National Delegates Conference of the NPP held at the Heroes’ Park, Kumasi on December 17, 2017, the acting General Secretary of the party, Mr John Boadu, indicated that the party was in the process of establishing an ideological institute whose affairs the DI would be officially mandated to steer.

“I am happy to say that the Danquah Institute, which has over the years been promoting the party’s ideology, supporting it with policy interventions and cutting-edge research and organising training and communication programmes for its members is well positioned to start this noteworthy project,” he noted.

“This is a laudable initiative which will not only benefit the party but the country as a whole,” the DI stated.

NPP applauded

In a statement signed by the Executive Director of the DI, Dr Kingsley Nyarko, it applauded the leadership of the NPP, especially the acting general secretary for recognising the contribution of the DI in the development of the party, and having faith in its capabilities to train its members, imbibe in them its ideologies and undertake cutting-edge research to inform the policy and strategic directions of both the party and government that would transform the socioeconomic outlook of the country.

“With this very important responsibility accorded the institute, we would like to express to the leadership of the party our joy and willingness to effectively and diligently discharge this noble mandate to the benefit of both party and nation,” the statement added.

Confidence reposed

The confidence reposed in the institute, according to the DI, underscored the awareness and appreciation of the party regarding the institute’s multitudinous contributions towards the former’s progress and development, as well as the socio-political transformation of the country.

“There is no denying the fact that the advocacies by the institute over the years have led to many reforms about our electoral process and the deepening of democratic governance in the country; in addition to serving as a worthy example to nations across the globe, especially on the African continent. We will need the support of all, both within and without the party to succeed,” the DI concluded.
