Eight in hot chase for Talensi seat

The contest for the Talensi seat in the upper East Region is becoming keener as Tuesday, July 7, the day for the by-election draws closer.

Eight political parties have filed their papers to contest the seat that became vacant following the enskinment and subsequent resignation of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Talensi, Mr Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore, who has been installed as the Paramount Chief of the Tongo Traditional Area.

The parties, after balloting for positions, will appear in the following order both on the ballot paper and on the notice of polls: Joseph Toatoba – Progressive People’s Party (PPP); Dennis Atiah Tambil – Independent People’s Party (IPP); James Mambora Doubil – New Vision Party (NVP); and Benson Tongo Baba – National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The rest are Dr Micahel Wumbego Namalteng – People’s National Convention (PNC); Yaro Bameezina Philip – Ghana Freedom Party (GFP); Isaac Kongazore – United Progressive Party (UPP)
