James Agalga, the Member of Parliament for Builsa North in the Upper East Region, is the one taking over from Mahama Ayariga as the Majority Leader in Parliament.
Agalga, who has been in Parliament since January 7, 2013, is currently in his fourth term as MP representing the people of Builsa North.
The change follows the nomination of Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, as Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, confirmed to Graphic Online’s parliamentary correspondent Nana Konadu Agyeman that Mr Agalga will be leading them in Parliament.
"Yes, it is true that James Agalga is the new Majority Leader," he said.
Mahama Ayariga's nomination as Minister means he seizes to be leader of the Majority Caucus in Parliament.
Kweku George Ricketts-Hagan, the MP for Cape Coast South, who has also been in Parliament since 2013 and is currently in his fourth term, is the Deputy Majority Leader.
In a ministerial reshuffle announced on Friday, Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle has been nominated for appointment as Minister of Environment, Science and Technology.
Also nominated for appointment as Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs is Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central.
This is coming after President John Dramani Mahama reshuffled two ministers and appointed two new ones, after one year, eight months in office in his second term as President.
Following this, President Mahama has reassigned Kenneth Gilbert Adjei from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence.
Kenneth Gilbert Adjei served as Deputy Minister of Defence in President Mahama's first term from May 2015 to January 6, 2017.
Ahmed Ibrahim, the Member of Parliament for Banda has also been reassigned from the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Ministry to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
