Let maturity reflect in political discourse

The New Director of Mission and Evangelism of the EP Church Ghana, Rev. Emmanuel Antwi-Tumfuor, has called on political parties to allow the maturity exhibited during the election of the executive to reflect in the broad political discourse during the 2016 elections and beyond.

He  has, therefore, congratulated political parties, especially the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) on organising successful elections to elect their national, regional and constituency executives.

“We pray the maturity exhibited during the election of the executives should reflect in the country’s political discourse in 2015   and beyond.

Respect views

“Let  us all put Ghana first not forgetting the fact that, Ghana belongs to all citizens and that we need to respect one another’s views in order to build a healthy nation. Tolerance can lead to learning something new,” he said in a new year message.

Rev.  Antwi-Tumfuor, who is also the District Pastor of the  EP Church at Abelenkpe in Accra, said Ghanaians needed to be tolerant and willing to accept other people’s views.

Communication

“There are so many wars just because of misunderstanding. If only everyone learns to communicate effectively by letting each other know how they feel, then it would be much easier to relate to one another.”

The year 2015, he said, was a promising year and had great fortunes awaiting Ghanaians, and expressed the hope that the country’s unity and oneness would be strengthened this year.

Rev. Antwi-Tumfuor said the church needed to help the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to succeed with the National Sanitation Day programme.

He noted that the church had a large following and that number must be brought to bear on the sanitation day exercise.

He encouraged the government to continue to initiate sustainable pragmatic measures to confront the power crisis, because energy is  the  important factor for economic growth.

“As New Year  renews all the happiness and good tidings, we hope the joyful spirit will keep glowing in our hearts forever.  We need to remember that every moment of our life is precious.

“We should, therefore, not fritter it away in useless pursuits, but devote it in the search of self and God. Let us strive to be different from what we were during the past year. Strive to reach God; be a true devotee, crave for blessing from the Almighty  God. Pray for mercy; promise him that you will go up the divine path at any cost and nothing shall deter you from achieving this objective,” he said.
