Describing it as “a major task”, he said that will help deliver party flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, to the Flagstaff House in 2016 in place of President John Mahama.

Mr Opong-Nkrumah won the constituency with 219 votes, beating John Obiri Yeboah and Bright Asamoah Acquah who had 145 and 54 votes respectively.

The former journalist, who said he was “elated, relieved and humbled” by his victory, expressed gratitude to the people of Ofoase Oyirebi for having faith in him.

He said he recognised that the people have high expectations of him, stressing that he would not disappoint them.
