PPF to host online conference on reparative justice ahead of Geneva forum

The Pan-African Progressive Front (PPF) has announced plans to host a major online conference on March 30, 2026, as part of efforts to deepen conversations around reparative justice and colonial accountability.

The conference, scheduled for 3:00PM GMT, comes at what the organisation describes as a pivotal year for Africa, particularly following a recent United Nations motion declaring the Transatlantic Slave Trade as the gravest crime against humanity.

In a press statement issued by the PPF Secretariat in Accra on March 28, the PPF said the virtual gathering will bring together progressive leaders, activists and policy experts from across Africa and the Diaspora to reflect on the implications of the development for African people globally.

“It is only vital in this moment to convene progressive leaders, activists, and policy experts from across the continent and the Diaspora to engage on what this means for the African people around the world,” the statement noted.

The conference, themed “Reparative Justice and Colonial Accountability,” is expected to serve as an international digital platform to encourage dialogue, collaboration and collective action. According to the organisers, the programme will create “a forum for interaction and bold collective discussion” on key issues surrounding justice and restitution.

A number of experienced speakers and subject matter experts will lead discussions on practical pathways to reparations, including legal frameworks and mechanisms for achieving accountability. The event will also feature a presentation on the upcoming Geneva Forum on Reparative Justice and Colonial Accountability.

The Geneva forum, scheduled for April, is being jointly organised by the PPF and Université Populaire en Suisse, and is expected to launch the PAPF-D Justice Taskforce to advance coordinated work on reparative justice and colonial accountability.

The PPF explained that the objective of the online conference is to “strengthen collective understanding, encourage coordinated engagement, and contribute to ongoing efforts toward justice, restitution, and accountability.”
