He described the address, which the President delivered to the House on Thursday, February 25, 2016, as "unique" and "one which stands out."

"I have listened to four Presidents of our dear country deliver 25 messages on the state of the nation. But the 25th message, now under scrutiny of Parliament and the country, stands out. “It is refreshingly unique. It is unique in presentation, unique in innovation, unique in clarity and unique in detail," Mr Bagbin said.

Winding up contributions on the motion to thank the President for the message, Mr Bagbin said the President succeeded in demonstrating how the government is “changing lives” and “transforming Ghana."

“Mr Speaker, I need not say that the President dazzled and mesmerised many people. The conservatives among us could not comprehend the change. They stuck to the past and were left behind. The cutting edge technology and innovation dazzled and mesmerised many, particularly the “Born before Computers.”

“They got lost and wondered whether this was Ghana,” the Majority Leader, who is also the MP for Nadowli Kaleo in the Upper West Region and Leader of Government Business, said.

He said the President acknowledged the contributions made by others to the national development process, and “did not say all the work and problems of Ghana have been done and solved.”

All inclusive government

He described President Mahama as a “President who is running an all-inclusive government, a leader who knows that governance is teamwork, that development is an unending journey, a process and not an event."

"The President stood to his billing of being an accomplished public relations expert. He understood the subject, read the political environment well and delivered the message in a style to the admiration of all objective listeners.”

Projects

Beginning with Parliament,  the Majority Leader said not only had President  Mahama rehabilitated and refurbished the chamber but had also continued and completed the rehabilitation and refurbishment of the Job 600 Office Complex and installed security equipment to protect MPs.

Also, he said, President Mahama had completed the construction of the court complex in Accra and provided infrastructure for the judiciary in some regional capitals including Kumasi, Cape Coast and Koforidua.

In the area of education,  Mr Bagbin said the President had built the capacity of personnel in the educational sector, worked to achieve gender parity in education and had provided 123 day senior high schools which were at various stages of completion.

He also mentioned projects in the health, roads and water sectors and said the President needed to be commended for delivering the address.
