We will prioritise fact-based communication over deception - Kwakye Ofosu
Minister of State-designate for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has pledged to uphold transparency and integrity in his role, vowing to combat misinformation while advocating for a more inclusive government under President John Dramani Mahama.
During his vetting on Friday, January 31, Kwakye Ofosu explained his unwavering commitment to truth and accountability, asserting that he would not be an agent of political propaganda or misinformation.
“I am a person of conviction, and when I take positions, I consider them carefully. Unless I am presented with verifiable evidence to the contrary, I stand by them. That may not always sit well with everyone, but as long as I believe it is the right thing to do, I will uphold it,” he stated.
He further assured Ghanaians that under his watch, government communication would be driven by facts rather than deception.
Mahama’s commitment to inclusivity
Beyond his commitment to ethical communication, Kwakye Ofosu expressed optimism about President Mahama’s potential inclusion of more Ghanaian diaspora members in his administration.
He lauded Mahama’s leadership style, describing him as a progressive leader who has shattered long-standing barriers and promoted diversity in governance.
“Given what he has shown so far, I will not be surprised if members of the diaspora who demonstrate competence and capacity are given a place in his government. He has broken every glass ceiling there is,” he remarked.
Kwakye Ofosu highlighted Mahama’s appointment of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as Ghana’s first female Vice President, as well as the increased representation of women and underrepresented groups in leadership roles.
He further acknowledged the contributions that skilled professionals in the diaspora could make toward national development, calling for policies that leverage their expertise in various sectors.
