West Mamprusi assembly members refuse to vote
Members of the West Mamprusi District Assembly refused to vote on Mr Saaka Sayuti, the President's nominee for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE), during their meeting at Walewale, the district capital.
The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Salifu Sa-eed had met the assembly members to impress upon them to confirm the nominee but the 44 assembly members refused to heed the plea of the regional minister to vote on the nominee.

The meeting to confirm the nominee was, therefore, scheduled for another date.
No reason was, however, given by the assembly members for their action.
Mamprugu Moagduri assembly
Meanwhile, it took two rounds of voting by the 16 assembly members of the Mamprugu Moagduri District in the Northern Region to confirm Mr Abu Adam as the DCE for the area.
Mr Adam, a teacher by profession, was nominated by the President for the position about a fortnight ago.
He secured 16 votes, representing 100 per cent, for him to be confirmed as the DCE for the area during a second round of voting.
The nominee was rejected by the assembly members in the first round of voting as the he polled five votes with 11 against.

It took the intervention of Mr Sa-eed, to get him confirmed overwhelmingly by the assembly members in the second round of voting after a closed-door meeting.
The election was supervised by the Northern Regional Deputy Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr Emmanuel Abeam Danso.
Swearing in
The nominee, after his confirmation by the assembly members, was sworn into office by Mr Sa-eed.
Mr Sa-eed in his address commended the assembly members for endorsing the President's nominee for the position which he said indicated their preparedness to work with the DCE to speed up the development of the area.

He said the district lagged behind in terms of infrastructure development and, therefore, the need for the assembly members to team up with the DCE to speed up the development of the area.
He gave the assurance that the road linking the district capital to the regional capital would be given a priority to help farmers cart their produce to market centres.
The new DCE, Mr Adam, thanked the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work with all and sundry to move the district forward.
